Features And Benefits

Triad series three-piece ball valves feature a live-loaded stem seal and redundant body seal design. These rugged, high-pressure, three-piece ball valves are available in full-port and standard-port models and are ideal for process, severe service, high-temperature, and high-cycle applications.

Clever Stem Assembly

Flow-Tek manufactures heavy-duty, high-quality valve stems that are connected to the ball and operator by a double “D” form. All Flow-Tek stems are protected against internal entry and blowout for maximum safety, and the Triad series of 2 1/2” O.D. valves feature a rugged, large-diameter stem with a dynamically loaded, self-adjusting primary and secondary seal. By utilizing a Belleville gasket, the stem packing is self-adjusting to compensate for temperature variations and normal wear. The stem assembly is secured by a saddle lock washer, which prevents the stem nut from loosening in high cycle automation applications.

The primary seal consists of a 50% stainless steel and 50% PTFE thrust washer and a PEEK thrust washer protector. Adjustable stem packing and an additional PEEK packing protector create multiple secondary seals between the stem and the valve body. The stem packing consists of graphite, which provides fire safety protection and an extremely high life cycle. This dual stem packing design is exclusive to Flow-Tek.

The Triad series of antistatic protected valves have an antistatic grounding device as standard. These devices ensure electrical continuity between the ball, stem and body of the valve, thus preventing static charges from sparking inside the valve.

The stem is guided by the body and gland to ensure smooth operation even under high torque conditions. The packing gland is adjustable and all stems are polished to minimize torque. Optional Belleville washers can be added for self-adjusting dynamic loads.

Flow-Tek’s Triad series valves feature a dual body sealing system for additional external leakage protection. The internal primary seal is TFM material. The secondary seal is graphite. The use of TFM as the internal seal minimizes color contamination of the process media. Both body stem packings are securely retained in machined grooves in the valve body. These grooves minimize seal movement and cold flow. As a result, compression stabilization is maintained even under extreme conditions.

The Triad series has a unique standard feature of a one-piece cast upper flange that ensures mandatory actuator mounting. This actuator mounting spacer avoids unnecessary movement of the actuator in high cycling or continuous load applications. The actuator unit can be easily and safely removed when the valve is at full pressure. The actuator mounting spacer conforms to the ISO 5211 bolting pattern standard. In addition, the mounting spacer facilitates field assembly of Flow-Tek’s media leakage prevention device. This device, combined with dual body stem packing, makes it an ideal valve for non-vented severe service, high and semi-low temperatures, and high cycle applications.

A wide selection of seat materials is available to meet the needs of most applications. Seats come standard in TFM 1600 material, which, in addition to the excellent chemical resistance of PTFE, provides reduced porosity and permeability, increased temperature range, and reduced valve torque. Material options include RPTFE, stainless steel/PTFE (50/50), UHMWPE, PTFE in primary form, PEEK, Tek-Fil® (carbon/graphite filled TFM), all-metal seats and cavity packing. PEEK seats have the ability to withstand high pressures/temperatures.
